Thanks to Virtual Honeymoon brides and grooms across the US are able to “visit” potential wedding and honeymoon sites prior to booking anything. I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Robin Hawkey, founder of Virtual Honeymoon and got the inside scoop of what her goal is with starting this business.
Hawkey started the business four years ago with the intent to create a destination matching tool. Having been a travel agent for fifteen years she felt that integrating virtual reality into the business would give clients the opportunity to experience first hand the options they have when picking a travel destination. Now, you may be asking yourself how exactly this process might work. When starting, Robin was aware that it had become increasingly easy to book travel through large travel websites, and she wanted to bring something different to the table that those websites couldn’t do. This process starts by clients taking “a series of carefully thought out, fun, interactive questions about their likes, preferences, and budget”. From this, the top two destination matchings appear and the client can select one or both of the destinations to experience. An agent will follow up with the option to experience these destinations in VR. The goal of this was to create a uniquely immersive experience, something that would allow her clients to get more involved and interactive. The results are showing that it works too. Bookings have doubled for the locations that she has with VR tours. 000000

Hawkey, a Bay Area native recently made the move to Boise and was excited to see that there’s a vibrant VR community in the state. We’re excited to see another company pushing the boundaries of what VR can do. Welcome to the community Virtual Honeymoon!
