By September 8, 2017Events, Gaming

Once again the Boise Public Library has delivered a great event celebrating the fun, visual storytelling that encompasses the rich world of comic books and other entertainment media. Over 10,000 people visited the annual Library Comic Con and that's quite a testament to the hard working passionate people in that organization. Featuring a wide diversity of talent, Library Comic Con provides an entertaining venue for artists to showcase their work and an opportunity for fans of all types to support their favorite entertainment-based content. There are few limits at Library Comic Con and we saw an impressive display of fandom.

Kate Radford of the Boise Public Library remarked “I am thrilled by the support Boiseans shows for creative endeavors like Library Comic Con that bring so many different groups in our community together. This was the second year we had a gaming and virtual reality portion of the event, and it was great to see costumed attendees try out Let’s Play demos, explore RPGs, playtest board games, and jump into VR experiences led by local creators and developers.”

Of course, the IVRC was on hand to provide engaging virtual reality demos, specifically Fruit Ninja VR and Space Pirate Trainer. Additionally, we rigged up a mixed reality display so that spectators could get a better idea of what the VR player was experiencing. Beyond the opportunity of bonding with other like-minded comic and visual arts fans, we were happy to see some familiar faces at the Comic-Con Gaming location at Trailhead. IVRC Members VR1 Arcade, Citizen Scientific Workshop, and Blocksmith XR were all in attendance and we're always happy to see members showcasing to the community.
