SkillsUSA Competition at MTCHS

The IVRC was happy to support VYNYL and SkillsUSA at the Meridian Technical Charter High School this past week. Teams of MTCHS students competed in the Interactive Application and Video Game Creation category. IVRC officials Chuck Westerburg and Jim Bradbury participated as judges along with VYNYL representatives Nick Crabbs and Chris Hoyd.

It's exciting to see an institution like the MTCHS provide an first-class technology based educational curriculum here in the Treasure Valley. They promote that "students receive over one thousand hours of industry related technology training while learning skills that will lead to careers and post-secondary education". We're happy to report that our judging experience fully supports that claim and that their students are primed with a great head start for future careers in technology.

Similarly, SkillsUSA is a great organization that provides students opportunities for growth through competition. These students participate initially at the local level and can qualify to earn advancement to state and national levels.  Competing in these events is a great way for students to gain experience in how their professional efforts will be evaluated and judged once they embark on careers.

Congratulations are due to the winning team. They will be moving on to SkillsUSA Nationals in this category. In addition to this privilege, they earned some quality prizes donated by VYNYL and the IVRC. Second and Third Place teams deserve credit as well and didn't walk away empty handed. The IVRC is looking forward to supporting additional efforts like these and seeing what these great students will achieve in the future.
